Coast Guard, Obama say Gulf oil spill urgent
from USA Today
Adm. Thad Allen, the U.S. Coast Guard Commandant said that response teams need to be prepared for a Gulf of Mexico oil spill that's larger than previously estimated. "It has the potential to be catastrophic," Allen said, according to Reuters. "The character of the slick has changed somewhat; it is disaggregated into smaller patches of oil. ... It's not a monolithic spill."
