All schools categorized based on performance

from Times-Call

The Colorado Department of Education has formally assigned every Colorado school to one of four improvement-plan categories based on a new school performance framework. The categories — performance, improvement, priority improvement and turnaround — are based on academic achievement, academic growth and achievement gaps between different groups of students. In high school, post-secondary readiness also is considered. According to the department, 62 percent of all schools are on performance plans, the highest category. Another 21 percent are on improvement plans; 7 percent are on priority improvement plans; and 4 percent are on turnaround plans. The department is still reviewing data for about 5 percent of the schools, none of which are in the St. Vrain Valley School District. more
