Progress in US-China trade policy talks

The U.S.-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) completed its 21st session in mid-December, announcing significant progress in several areas, including enforcement of intellectual property rights. China has launched a special campaign against counterfeiting American products and pirating designs, an issue that has plagued U.S.-China trade relations. Other progress included agreements on technology standards, clean energy, government procurement and "indigenous innovation" - discrimination in government purchasing based on the origin of the product design or industrial equipment. more
