Retailers, restaurants started raising funds to help quake victims and aid relief organizations

from Crain's New York Business

Three days after the 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit the northeast coast of Japan, several New York-based companies and organizations have created disaster relief funds to help victims. The earthquake triggered a tsunami and has prompted two explosions at an atomic plant north of Tokyo, while the death toll from the nation's strongest earthquake may top 10,000, according to Bloomberg. In New York City, several retailers have already joined in the relief effort. SushiSamba, which has two restaurants and its headquarters in Manhattan, started a nationwide campaign Friday to give to the American Red Cross 100 percent of the proceeds from a $12 special sushi roll created by its Japanese sushi chefs. more
