Thousands of civilian jobs won't be filled
from Air Force Times
The Air Force has put the brakes on civilian hiring in an effort to slow civilian workforce growth and save money. It had planned to fill 21,500 new civilian positions for fiscal 2012, but the cost of a decade at war and the lagging economy will leave the service with only enough money to hire about 4,000, said Bill Snodgrass, chief of the manpower programming division for the Air Force.
