New National Guard, Army Reserve center opens in Pennsylvania
from The Scranton Times Tribune
A new center for the Pennsylvania National Guard and Army Reserve has opened, completing the rebirth of a landscape once scarred by mine waste. The Scranton Armed Forces Reserve Center opened about three weeks ago, a little more than a year after a groundbreaking was held at the site. Even though military personnel were not fully moved in, the center became the site for the state active-duty mission that managed the response to Hurricane Irene for the area.
