First Presbyterian Church of Trenton, N.J., celebrates 300-year anniversary with colonial Sunday service

from NJ.com

Women wore bonnets and men wore tricorn hats at the First Presbyterian Church on Sunday as they commemorated the founding of the congregation 300 years ago and the church’s formative role in the history of the city and the nation. A crowd of about 80 church members attended the anniversary service, the Rev. John Russell Allen said. Volunteers in the congregation made enough costumes for everyone in the parish. “They thought it was a great deal of fun. Everybody played dress-up,” Allen said. “It’s a privilege to serve such an venerable congregation and one that remains vital today.” more
