Expectant management 'preferred' in acute postpartum anemia

Foregoing a blood transfusion is the better option for women with acute postpartum anemia, maternal and newborn health researchers have argued. A study by a team in the Netherlands showed there is a statistically significant decrease in the severe physical fatigue associated with this condition — which is the result of excessive blood loss during labor — when mothers are given a transfusion.
