XL Foods recall continues to ripple in frozen, RTE sector

from USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service

After conducting effectiveness checks, the Food Safety and Inspection Service has more than doubled its estimate of the amount of beef trim and beef products the U.S. received from XL Foods in Canada. The 1.1 million pounds of trim and 1.4 million pounds of primal and sub-primal cuts of beef all are part of an ongoing, widening recall because of E. coli contamination found at the plant.
