Bus driver hailed as hero in freak accident

from The Hawk Eye

Pat Coen, superintendent of the WACO School District, calls Neil Reichenbach a hero. Reichenbach was the driver of a school bus that was struck by a piece of plywood on Oct. 24, near the rural town of Martinsburg, Iowa. It resulted in the bus windshield being shattered. The school bus was carrying more than 30 football players from WACO High School to their Class A playoff game against Lynnville-Sully. "Neil was the hero of the whole deal because while the windshield was caving in around him, he was able to go from highway speed and get off on the side of the road without wrecking," said Coen. more
