Career education classes declining despite interest among many students

Sparks fly in the metal shop at Springfield High School in Eugene, Ore., where 17-year-old junior Chayse Lee is welding the cross-member for the nose of an electric car. Lee is the kind of kid who is comfortable working with his hands, and he likes the teachers who run the manufacturing and engineering department at his school.
