NAPT member survey of safety and security measures

Dear NAPT Member:
In response to deadly violence in schools and on school buses in recent times, the NAPT Board has formed a Steering Committee for the newly-formed Safety and Security Project — comprised of Charlie Hood, State Director of Pupil Transportation in Florida; Kathleen Furneaux, Executive Director of the Pupil Transportation Safety Institute (PTSI); Gail Wilson Hyser president of Wilson's Bus Service, Inc., in Pasadena, Md., and a Director at Large of the National School Transportation Association (NSTA); Denny Coughlin, president of School Bus Training Company in Minneapolis, Minn.; and NAPT Board Liaison David Anderson, Director of Transportation for the Adams 12 Five Star School District in Colorado. The group has been tasked with making outreach to the industry and gauging feedback that will be used to develop products and/or services that will enhance the national and local conversations about improved safety and security, especially involving schools and children.

The steering committee has developed a survey that has been designed to get a sense of how different parts of the country are thinking and responding to these issues. We are seeking feedback about what communities and transporters are currently doing as well as thoughts about what more we could do to increase the safety and security of school buses.

We would like you to participate in the survey and we encourage you to share with us your feedback. The information you supply is for NAPT's internal use only and will be held in strict confidence. Your individual responses will be enable us to define specific initiatives. We will, of course, share with each of you the general survey results and intend thereafter to use them to help us make decisions about education, training and other initiatives that may be helpful to you and the employees and students you serve.

Thank you for your participation. Click here to enter the survey. more
