Before they became NFL first-round draft picks, Matthew Stafford, Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Christian Ponder and Dez Bryant honed their skills in a manner that has become a tradition in Texas since the late 1990s. They played summer 7-on-7 football for their high schools. But now there is an alternative, one that has coaches up in arms.
