Leaders from various realms of sport, including ACSM, came together at the National Conference on Youth Sports Safety for the announcement of a national movement to make sports safer for America's youth last week. PASS (Protecting Athletes and Sports Safety) was announced on Friday at the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Barbara Jordan Conference Center in Washington, DC. Former U.S. Surgeon General, David Satcher, gave remarks at the launch. Satcher stressed that that PASS was not created to change the culture or nature of sports, but to influence it. Another of PASS’s priorities will be to get children more physically active through participation in sports, and ensure that sports participation is safe. Concussion and head injuries will be a key focus. To learn more about PASS, please visit more
