Lingering pain after breast cancer surgery remains a significant problem for many women, new data suggest. One year after treatment for localized breast cancer, 50 percent of women had mild pain and 16 percent had moderate to severe pain in a study from Finland. "I believe many doctors do know of the possibility of persistent pain after surgery. Perhaps the surprise here is just how common such persistent pain is in breast cancer patients at 12 months from surgery," Dr. Tuomo J.
