California's new reporting requirement for accredited outpatient surgery

from The Medical Board of California

Beginning Jan. 1, accredited outpatient surgery settings in California are required to report adverse events, as defined in HSC Section 1279.1, to the Medical Board — rather than the Health Department — no later than five days after the adverse event has been detected, or, if that event is an ongoing urgent or emergent threat to the welfare, health or safety of patients, personnel or visitors, no later than 24 hours after the adverse event has been detected. Click here for the Adverse Event Reporting Form, and click here for a letter explaining the changes. more
