Vitamin D deficiency may predict aggressive prostate cancer

According to study author Dr. Adam B. Murphy, assistant professor in the department of urology at the Northwestern University Feinburg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, vitamin D is known to impact the growth and differentiation of benign and malignant prostate cells, both in prostate cell lines and animal models of prostate cancer. However, their study revealed that low levels of the vitamin in men appeared to predict the risk of aggressive prostate cancer. more
