Spy plane program ditched as National Defence eyes extra U.S. planes

The Harper government has ditched a proposed competition to buy as many as four sophisticated spy planes — but with the U.S. looking to sell off surplus aircraft in the wake of the war in Afghanistan, the project may not be entirely dead. Last year, Canada's Department of Public Works asked the defence industry for ideas on the possible purchase of manned airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance planes. more
