West Virginia state revenue improves but still short

Although state tax collections remain about $18.8 million behind expectations for the year, August proved to be a better month than July for revenue. West Virginia missed anticipated tax collections by about $1.3 million for August, according to a new budget report. State budget officials said a delay in one-time money transfers put the state behind $17.4 million to start the financial year, which begins in July. more
