The test that could save student-athletes' lives

According to the National Center for Catastrophic Injury, 12 high school and college football players die each year. Since the early 1990s, more than 200 players have died; 100 of those deaths were caused by an undetected heart problem. A Stanford University study found the routine use of an electrocardiogram, or EKG, on young athletes was a cost-effective way to identify those with potentially life-threatening illnesses. more
