It can be a 'dirty' game when shoe firms get involved in high school sports

At many high schools across the country, athletes in prominent programs enjoy such perks as free shoes, workout gear and travel bags. Recently, University of Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino bemoaned the influence of shoe companies on the recruiting process. The coach, whose program reportedly will receive $39 million from a contract extension with Adidas, acknowledged it's difficult to criticize the process "because our pockets are lined with their money." more
