JCPS continues work on reducing ride time on buses, improving student assignment process

The average amount of time an elementary-aged student spends riding a school bus in Jefferson County is at the lowest it has been in recent years, according to a new report that will be shared with the school board. Elementary students in Jefferson County Public Schools are spending an average of 26.3 minutes on a school bus daily this year, down from 27.3 minutes last year and 29.3 minutes in 2012-2013. Meanwhile, middle and high school students are spending slightly more time on buses — 30.4 minutes this year, compared to 30.1 minutes last year and 30.2 minutes two years ago. more
