Video Available from ACSM Climate Change and Health Event

You can now watch all of the proceedings (links below) from the ACSM-collaborative program "A Civil Society Event on Action in Climate Change and Health" held earlier this fall in New York City, in conjunction with the United Nations Summit on Climate, which occurred the next day. The event featured, among many others, Lancet Editor Richard Horton, Acting U.S. Surgeon General Boris Lushniak, EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, and former Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services Donna Shalala.

The physical activity community was well-represented at the event that brought together a prestigious group of U.S. and international experts and panelists. A major focus was how physical activity contributes to personal and public health, a cleaner environment and economic development.

Be sure to watch for the conclusions and key directions identified by global government and policy leaders throughout the day that will set the stage for future actions.

We'd also like to invite you to join ACSM's new ActivEarth initiative that was announced at the event. If you're passionate about physical activity and share the ActivEarth vision to strengthen the environment and the economy through active transportation, you can sign up and get involved. Please also share with us at how you might like to be involved with ActivEarth as an ACSM member or how your current occupation is directly related to active transportation and the complementary benefits to health, the environment or the economy. The 2015 ACSM Annual Meeting will provide an opportunity for an in-person meeting about ActivEarth.

Thanks for your commitment to promoting physical activity wherever your steps take you!
