Ontario lags other provinces in updating health privacy laws

Ontario lags behind most other jurisdictions when it comes to protecting patient privacy. The Star contacted every health jurisdiction in Canada and found eight have passed legislation — some as recently as last year — to force hospitals to report breaches to the relevant privacy body. But Ontario, which has the largest population in the country, has no plans for such a legislative change.
