And away we go!

from CASE

As you read this article Monday morning, the CASE office will officially be temporarily operating out of San Diego for a week! The CEC convention week is one of our busiest weeks of the year! Robin and I will be finalizing the preparation for our Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday, our member/board on Wednesday, our spotlight session and our teacher focused "So you want to become a SPED Administrator?" panel on Thursday, and of course ending Thursday with CASE night at the zoo. CASE always has a great booth on the Expo floor where we become a gathering place as well as a great place to pick up CASE products at a special discount! Then there are all the CEC meetings for our various officers — membership, finance, policy and research! These meetings are attended by all the division leadership and it is a great time to share ideas, learn the ups and downs of organizational needs as well as find ways to better collaborate. All of these actions are to give our members better service! It truly is a busy week and doesn't end until Saturday but we always make great connections, learn lots, and come away better than when we arrived! If you are going to be at CEC, come to our events! Click here to get a one pager with the dates and locations!

Whether you are attending CEC or not, we would like to make a special request for names of those who have passed away since April 1, 2014. Ever year at our annual meeting we acknowledge and honor those members who have passed away during the year in a touching Necrology ceremony, Please take a moment to drop me an email with the person's name, location, subdivision, and any offices/committees they were on over the years. We need to honor those who have served so well. Their names and information will be preserved in our minutes by having this ceremony. Please help us have as complete a list as possible. We will add names at the meeting, but it is always nice to have them ahead of time!

You may not realize it but CASE hasn't increased our membership dues in over 17 year! ... One of the reasons for being able to keep those dues at the same level is we have increased our sales of CASE products and our support from vendors! Vendors support us because they hope their exposure to our members will help you think of them when you have a need for their product. We appreciate your help by letting vendors know you know they are supporting CASE and CASE subdivisions! We all depend on them! So, please let the sponsors for our joint member board member meeting, the Spotlight Session, and CASE Night all know how much you appreciate their support! SCHOLASTIC, Inc.; CATHY SARTAIN INDUSTRIES; MASTER TEACHER; STAR AUTISM; VIZZLE; AND C8SCIENCES.

CEC Policy and Advocacy unit has once again arranged an invitation only Town Hall during the Convention with Dr. Melody Musgrove, Director of the Office of Special Education Programs. The CASE executive committee and members of the CASE Policy and Legislative will be attending. The topic of the town hall is "College and Career Readiness for Children with Disabilities." Your voice will be in that room! Please complete the poll below and let our leaders who will be attending know what your issues are. If you would like to share any additional information, please send your comments to Phyllis Wolfram CASE Policy and Legislative Chair.

Don't forget the CASE Fall Call for Proposals is active and on line! This year we have gone with a totally electronic format and we believe it will be even easier for submitting proposals and follow up on acceptance all the way through submitting bio and handouts! See the article below and follow the directions and links for submission! Click here for a one page intro on the RFP process with directions and a QR code to take you to the website or just go to the CASE website and follow those directions.

Last Week's Poll asked "What does NDD stand for?" The first place answer was Non Designated Dollars at 42 percent. In second place and the CORRECT answer at 33 percent of those answering the poll was Non-Defense Discretionary. Last place with 25 percent of those who answered the poll was the never heard of it answer! I hope you will take the time to go to this website and learn more about NDD as it is impacting your dollars now and could be even more devastating to your programs in the next 10 years if we cannot get Congress to understand the unintended consequences of their budgetary actions! CASE and CEC are members of this coalition, NDD United.
