Surveying students explore ancient measurement practices

from NSPS

Kelly Ness PLS (Principal Instructor in the Surveying and Civil Engineering Technology program at Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis) reports that after studying Greek astronomer Eratosthenes’ methods to calculate the circumference of the earth, his students in the Geodetic & Controls Surveys class recreated the process using ancient (276 BC) methods, and modern technology.
