FDA approves new antiplatelet drug used during cardiac procedure

The FDA has approved cangrelor, an IV antiplatelet drug that prevents formation of blood clots in the coronary arteries. It is indicated as an adjunctive therapy to angioplasty for reducing periprocedural thrombotic events in patients who have not been treated with a P2Y12 inhibitor and are not being given a glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor. more
