ACEEE: DOE proposes energy reductions for beverage vending machines

from FMLink

The U.S. Department of Energy has proposed strong new standards that would reduce the energy consumed by beverage vending machines to keep drinks cold, according to a blog post by Joanna Mauer, technical advocacy manager, Appliance Standards Awareness Project, at the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. The proposed standards, Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation Standards for Refrigerated Bottled or Canned Beverage Vending Machines, would cut energy use by 25 to 65 percent relative to the least-efficient machines available now, and save money for schools, hospitals, hotels, and other businesses and institutions where beverage vending machines are used. more
