Manitoba Hydro to sell hydroelectric power to SaskPower
from Hydro World
Manitoba Hydro announced it is selling 100-MW of hydroelectric power to SaskPower, as part of a memorandum of understanding signed in 2013. The 20-year agreement from 2020 to 2040 will allow SaskPower to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and increase the renewable portion of its power portfolio. The hydropower purchased will cost roughly the same as natural gas-fired generation, according to SaskPower. Electricity provided under this agreement will come from the 695-MW Keeyask hydro station currently under construction.
