City of Moss Point, Mississippi Bail Litigation
Several federal litigation cases have been filed across the country alleging that money bail conditions are unconstitutional under the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution and imprisons people because they cannot pay an amount for release set by a generic bail schedule.

The Equal Justice Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to end the American money bail system, is driving this effort. Their latest case is with the city of Moss Point, Mississippi, a small city of approximately 14,000 people. The American Bail Coalition, who is dedicated along with PBUS to the long-term growth and sustainability of the bail industry, summarized the recent Moss Point case, which I would like to share with all of you.

Our industry is under attack and we must all join together to once again show our strength and our unified message of increased public safety and the saving of millions of dollars by the hard-working men and women in the bail industry. more
