Attention COA Active Members! Research Survey Reminder — Identifying Barriers to Entry into Academic Practice for Orthopaedic Surgeons

Academic surgical practice is an important component of knowledge generation and innovation within the field of orthopaedics. Despite its rewards, it is evident that a variety of barriers to entry into academic practice exist which push recently-trained surgeons towards non-academic paths. The survey is divided to assess attitudes of actively practicing Canadian Orthopaedic Association members towards various components of academic practice: research, financial and mentorship support and work/life balance. Results will help in the recruitment and retention of orthopaedic surgeons into academic practice.
