Color Stability of Stained Wood-Flour/Polypropylene Composites During Weathering

from SPE Plastics Research Online

In recent years, concerns over deforestation and diminishing petroleum-based resources have been growing. Wood-plastic composites (WPCs) have proven to be an ideal substitute for both wood and plastics due to the economic and mechanical advantages that they provide (e.g., their high specific stiffness and strength, low maintenance requirements, improved environmental performance, and special aesthetic properties). The use of WPCs for outdoor applications has been developing rapidly over the past few decades. From the perspective of the consumer, one of the main drawbacks of WPCs is their tendency to fade due to weathering. more
