February —Today in Guard History

from National Guard

On Feb. 22, 1732 in Pope's Creek Plantation, Virginia, George Washington is born. Known for commanding the Continental Army during the Revolution and for being the first President of the United States, he is often referred to as the "father of his country." Few know however, that probably none of these later events in his life would have occurred if he had not been an officer in the Virginia militia. more
