Treating knee osteoarthritis in younger adults

from By Heidi Dawson

As a physical therapist, I often come across patients who have been diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis, and most are in the 50-plus age group. The majority have been diagnosed with OA by their family physician based on clinical features, or sometimes in conjunction with an imaging study. Every now and again, I meet someone younger who has had the same diagnosis. As young as even the early 20s. This always rings alarm bells with me, and this is why it should with you, too. more
