Last week I stressed the importance to CASE and we hope to you about keeping you connected and informed.

from CASE

A big part of our ability to keep you connected and informed is knowing "who you are!" One of the ways we do know who you are is through the data our members supply to CEC! Just last week we requested CEC send us the demographics of the CASE membership — how long our members have been CEC/CASE members, ages, years of service, gender, etc. There were so few of our members who had that information in the CEC data bases that they could not give us the data and have it be of much use! So ... Please take a moment to login to your account at and confirm your contact information and professional profile are correct:
  • You will be asked to create a user name and password if you do not have one.
  • Please fill in your demographic information as we use this to continually improve our products and services.
  • Also, please gives us the name of your institution and who pays for your membership if you pay by purchase order, or if someone else at your institution submits payments on your behalf.
This shouldn't take but just a few minutes and if you haven't already gotten an account, you really need one — why? Because you use that same log in to get into the CASE Members Only section, too! Both CEC and CASE want to better serve you and to do that, we need to know who "YOU" are! Thanks for taking the time to do this!

Speaking of CEC... You have read in the last few weeks about all the happenings at the upcoming CEC Convention and how important it is for our members to be there. But whether you go or not, you can provide input! There are two really important opportunities for you to let us hear from you:
  1. If you know of an active CASE member who has passed away since April 2015, please send to me the person's name and where they served (city, state/province) so we can include them on our annual Necrology Report.
  2. CASE will have two voting members at the CEC Representative Assembly (RA) and one of they have been asked to get input from their members after reading a DRAFT document on High Leverage Practices by answering these 4 questions:
    1. What assumptions can we make about CEC members' needs regarding the preparation of teacher candidates in special education over the next 5-10 years?
    2. How can the High Leverage Practices be used in special education teacher preparation and professional development over the next 5-10 years?
    3. What strategies can CEC use to assist its members and units/divisions to learn about the High Leverage Practices?
    4. What strategies can CEC use to assist its members and units/divisions in determining how the High Leverage Practices will be used by CEC?
To make it easier for you to provide us this input, we will be using these questions as the weekly poll! Please read the document first and then provide us your input in the Poll Section!

And Don't Forget all the great CASE happenings to at CEC... We are so proud of the unveiling of the newest addition to the CASE Leadership Series, "Book 4: Effective and Efficient Management of Resources" by Dr. David Bateman and Jenifer Cline. We will even be doing book signings on this newest book from 11:00-12:00 on both Thursday and Friday at the CASE Booth (#810). You don't want to miss this great new book! Another reason is we will announce the election results and the award winners at our annual member meeting! There are other great events too but in order for you to enjoy these great events, you need to be registered for CEC 2016. There are some very special CASE events planned for you! Be sure to plan your hotel and arrival so you come in on Tuesday — CASE Member and Board meeting will start with a full breakfast on Wednesday morning sponsored by Winsor Learning! We will have a break sponsored by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and a highlight of the day is the awards portion sponsored by Master Teacher, On Thursday we will have our showcase session with Julie Weatherly providing 90 Tips in 120 Minutes sponsored by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Also, don't forget to purchase your CASE Night tickets for the amazing Grants Farm evening with the Anheuser-Busch world famous Clydesdales sponsored by Star Autism, C8 Sciences and viZzle! And if you haven't ordered a DVD, it isn't too late to do so now! Order your DVD now for the low member price of just $384.95--$484.95 nonmembers.

Last week's poll asked what gave you the most benefit through your CASE membership. Coming in first place with 46 percent was networking opportunities with other professionals. Not far behind in second place with 31 percent was information and connect to resources. At third place with 15 percent was publications, including our JSEL, books, Lucky 21 monographs, etc. And finally with 8 percent was professional learning opportunities. We will continue to strive to provide you great resources and opportunities in all of these areas ... but we will do a better job if you go to the CEC website and update your demographic information!

We appreciate you reading this as you try to stay informed and connected! If there is anything I can do to help you in this quest, please let me know! Have a great week and spend some time thinking about you and your needs so you can better meet all those other people's needs!
