Florida set to allow students to attend any state public school

from Sun Sentinel

There soon may be a lot more school choice in the state. A bill recently approved by state legislators would allow students to attend any public school in the state — if the selected school has space available. It would also make high schoolers immediately eligible to play sports at their new schools. The downside: No transportation would be provided. The freedom for students to cross county lines would go into effect for the 2017-2018 school year if approved by Gov. Rick Scott, who will have 15 days to act once the bill is presented to him. more
