Scientists develop chemical peel to tackle cervical cancer

from International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics

Scientists in Vienna, Austria, have developed a new chemical peel-style treatment that has proved effective in removing pre-cancerous cells from the cervix. The treatment consists of 85 per cent trichloroacetic acid, which is a substance traditionally used during cosmetic chemical skin peels to rejuvenate the skin. This solution was applied to women found to have the human papilloma virus (HPV), which can be an early sign of cervical cancer. more
