More than 800,000 viewers on Friday afternoon tuned into Facebook at the same time to watch a live stream of two people placing rubber bands around a watermelon one at a time until it finally exploded. The stunt — produced by millennial-focused entertainment destination Buzzfeed — garnered almost double the number of viewers as a typical afternoon cable news broadcast. The 45-minute stream had been watched more than 5.6 million times by Friday evening. more
