In-hospital TAVR Outcomes Improve as Case Volume Goes Up

The number of transcatheter aortic-valve replacement (TAVR) procedures a center performs can affect patient outcomes while they're in the hospital, new research suggests. Analysis of almost 43,000 patients from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons–American College of Cardiology TVT Registry who underwent first-time TAVR showed that as cumulative volume increased, there was a significant reduction in adjusted rates of both mortality and bleeding. However, there was no significant decrease in stroke. more
