from AEG

Plan now to present at the 3rd North American Symposium on Landslides (NASL), June 4-8, 2017 in Roanoke, Virginia. The theme of this exciting conference is Landslides: Putting Experience, Knowledge and Emerging Technologies into Practice.

The main objective of the symposia is to provide a stimulating forum for geoscientists, engineers, planners, economists, program managers and other decision makers concerned with landslide hazards and their impact on society. Papers related to investigation, classification, monitoring, analysis and mitigation of landslides, as well as case studies on innovative analysis techniques and solutions will be presented.

Papers are invited from all topics in landslide science, engineering, and public policy fitting the general themes below. The topics listed are examples only. Abstracts on any relevant landslide topic are welcome.

Experience
  • The National Landslides Hazards Program
  • The National Landslide Loss Reduction Act
  • Emergency Management and Response
  • Case histories and lessons learned
  • Impacts of climate change
  • Predicting slope failures
  • Landslide insurance
Knowledge
  • Hazards reduction and communication
  • Risk analysis, reduction, and mitigation
  • Societal impacts of landslide hazards
  • Impacts of weather on slope stability
  • Earthquake-induced slope failures
