New teen death bill provides alternative to life without parole

from Times Daily

There now is an alternative sentence for a juvenile convicted of capital murder besides life in prison without parole. The Alabama Legislature passed House Bill 323 during the last days of the session. Recently, Gov. Robert Bentley signed the bill into law. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Jim Hill, R-St. Clair County, changes the sentencing for a juvenile convicted of capital murder to either life with eligibility of parole after 30 years in prison, or life without parole. more
