Senate Clears DOT Spending Bill

from Aviation News Today

After an extended debate over funding to combat the Zika virus, the Senate passed a Fiscal Year 2017 DOT/FAA spending bill that includes $3.35 billion for airport infrastructure projects. The measure would need to pass the House and be signed by the President to become law. The House Appropriations Committee is scheduled to consider its transportation funding bill early next week. Committee members on both sides of the aisle spoke in favor of the bill, which includes $58.2 billion for DOT and HUD – $889 million more than the current level. House Appropriations Committee Chairman Harold Rogers (R-Ky.) described the measure as "good bill" that keeps our nation's infrastructure safe and funds the contract tower program. more
