New Data Resource for Physical Activity and Dietary Data Publicly Available

The National Cancer Institute is providing data for researchers to develop novel analytic approaches for quantifying physical activity and dietary exposures. The Interactive Diet and Activity Tracking in AARP (IDATA) Study is a methodologic study of device-based, internet-based and conventional self-report instruments for assessing physical activity and diet in epidemiologic research.

As presented at the NCI website, “Scientists still have much to learn about the relationship between physical activity, diet and disease. Limiting factors of current research are a lack of understanding about the measurement error properties of common assessment instruments and how to combine instruments to better measure food intake and physical activity participation. Instruments used by the IDATA Study include intensive 24-hour recalls of diet and time use, diaries, questionnaires, screeners, accelerometers, inclinometers and urine biomarkers. These data are available to all qualified investigators for studies of physical activity and nutrition. Interested investigators can request access to IDATA Study data via the Cancer Data Access System at” more
