Rehab patients' advocate worried about shuffling of services at Lucie-Bruneau centre

from CBC News

A patients' advocate at one of Montreal's key rehabilitation centres is worried about the impact on patients when the Centre Réadaptation Lucie Bruneau on the Plateau–Mont-Royal moves several of its specialized programs across the city next fall. About 300 patients with spinal cord injuries, brain trauma, amputations and major orthopedic injuries will be moved from the Lucie Bruneau centre to the Institut de réadaptation Gingras-Lindsay-de-Montreal, Quebec's largest rehabilitation hospital, in Cote-des-Neiges. Monika Throner, the head of Lucie Bruneau's patients committee, says many of the centre's patients live in the city's east end. She's worried the change will be especially difficult for patients with brain injuries. more
