Mediterranean whitefly found in Florida

A pest harmful to fruit and vegetable crops has been found in seven Florida counties. Mediterranean whitefly could threaten Florida tomatoes, squash, beans, watermelon and other commodities, Lance Osborne, a University of Florida entomologist, said in a news release. First found in Palm Beach in April, Mediterranean whitefly has turned up in Broward, Highlands, Hillsborough, Martin, Pinellas and Seminole counties, Osborne said. more
