Tower gets Allentown, Pennsylvania, planners' OK, but faces fight on demolition

from The Morning Call

Plans for a sleek, 12-story steel and glass building at the corner of Sixth and Hamilton streets in Allentown, Pennsylvania, escaped the city's planning commission with a favorable review July 12, but developers may face a more difficult task in getting permission to demolish buildings needed to move forward. Known as Tower 6, the 145,000-square-foot office and retail project is the latest proposal from City Center Investment Corp., the company behind much of the new construction in Allentown's Neighborhood Improvement Zone. City Center plans to demolish several buildings at the Sixth and Hamilton intersection, diagonal from the Americus Hotel, to make way for the modern office building. more
