Glacier's newest employee will keep goats, bighorn sheep away

from Billings Gazette

Mark Biel calls out to his border collie Gracie as she herds a small flock of five sheep into a tight clump of irritated wool. The sheep relax for a moment and open their mouths to pant. This is the third time Gracie has attempted to herd them by Biel's commands this morning. They're hot, tired and over it. Gracie is training for an important job at Glacier National Park. She is the star of its pilot program for wildlife management. Biel said Gracie will be the first employee-owned dog trained for work in a national park. more
