ACSM, Sanford, NYSHSI Host Think Tank on Regenerative Medicine

The National Youth Sports Health & Safety Institute (NYSHSI), a joint partnership between ACSM and Sanford Health, hosted an innovative think tank in regards to regenerative medicine in youth sports. The think tank session was held last Thursday, preceding the 2nd Annual Vail Scientific Summit hosted by the Steadman Philippon Research Institute and led by think tank co-chairs, Dr. Johnny Huard and Dr. Michael Coleman. The day after the close of the NYSHSI think tank, a few designated faculty participated in a two-hour panel segment on regenerative medicine.

Key objectives of the think tank include:
  1. Detailing different types of youth sports-related injuries, along with contributing medical therapies with function-related outcomes;
  2. Creating a proposed outline and structure-specific clinical recommendations based on specific anatomic regions of injury, age of the population, scientific findings and FDA regulations;
  3. Incorporating the findings, conclusions and recommendations into a consensus paper to be published in Current Sports Medicine Reports.
