YOU'VE JUST GOT TO BE KIDDING: Let's See You Make an Earring out of This!

from The Guardian

When Aileen Cynthia Maggay-Amurao's nephew, a fisherman, told her about it, she thought he was lying. Seems that, about ten years ago, the man from Puerto Princesa, Palawan, the Philippines, was out fishing. When his anchor got stuck, he had to swim down to dislodge it. It had caught on a giant clam and inside that clam the fisherman spied a large pearl: 1-foot wide, 2.2-feet long, and 75 pounds. He kept it hidden under his bed for all this time, using it as a good luck charm. And is it ever. It might well be the largest such pearl ever retrieved, with a value exceeding $100 million.
