HR DEPT.: SPEAK UP! Five Things Your Boss Wants to Hear You Say

from Business News Daily

A Randstad survey of 500 U.S. employers and 2,000 employees shows that, while three-quarters of employees believe their bosses value their opinions, almost 100% of employers say they value staff members' input. In fact, three-quarters of the employers said their company would be more successful if they listened even more to employees’ ideas and insights, especially if employees introduced their topic using any one of five things bosses wish they could hear their employees say.

One of the five: "I want to demonstrate that I'm capable of doing more."

Bosses want their subordinates to feel comfortable speaking about their career aspirations, because bosses want to understand their employees' goals better. Doing so allows bosses to develop better career paths and benchmarks for success.

Another, "I have a solution to one of the company's problems."

Why? Because bosses want employees to share their suggestions, given that employees are perennially the best source of ideas for improving performance, innovation, and company culture. more
